Gifts of Stock
By donating shares of appreciated securities and/or closely held stock to Missouri S&T you will minimize capital gains tax that would have been payable if you sold the asset and then gave a gift of cash. The full market value of securities having unrealized long-term gains when given philanthropically is deductible up to 30% AGI, with a five-year carry-forward.

Matching Gifts
Does your company have a matching gift program? Click here to search for matching gift companies.
Phillip Reed, Chairman of the General Electric Board of Directors, started the first corporate matching gift program in 1954. The GE Matching Gift program was created to encourage GE employees to make annual contributions to their alma maters.
Today, matching gifts enable a donor to double, triple or even quadruple their gift, depending on their employer’s matching gift policy. Matching gifts are credited to the corporation by law and “soft-credited” to donor for gift club recognition. Missouri S&T must receive your matching gift by June 30th to qualify for gift credit in the current fiscal year.
The matching gift process is simple however; it does vary from company to company. The most common filing methods are, (1) submitting a paper form, (2) utilizing an on-line system or (3) completing a form over the phone. Please contact your corporate human resources office to verify their process.
